A week after the District Large Scale Service Project (DLSSP), Magic Kingdom Lieutenant Governor, Alex D. Nguyen, and the Divisional Leadership Team took up the opportunity to continue what was not finished. They created the first ever Magic Kingdom Large Scale Service Project (MKLSSP) to provide Circle K members in Magic Kingdom an opportunity to help the less fortunate. We took on the role of helping out an organization known as “Veterans First” that provides housing, nutrition, and all kinds of things to help support veterans. There were three houses that were in need of help, so Magic Kingdom’s members were split apart into different groups to complete the tasks. The hard work involved cleaning rooms, restrooms, and reorganizing things inside the house.

Even with seven out of nine schools in the Magic Kingdom Division attending, the work was still tedious. Working on the veteran’s houses involved moving furniture from the rooms and cleaning the floors despite how dirty it may be. The restrooms were small and quite compact, but that wasn’t an issue for young students willing to wake up early in the morning on a Sunday. The result was worth it in the end since we were able to provide veterans with a cleaner and safer environment to live in, seeing as how they did the same for us.

It was a great experience being able to participate in the first ever MKLSSP, especially as a general member in my first year at Orange Coast College. I’m grateful to Alex and his team for taking the time to plan such an amazing event for everyone in Magic Kingdom!
