MEET THE EDITORS

In 2016, Alex D. Nguyen (UC Irvine) & Angela Lagrada (CSU Fullerton) founded The Magic Bulletin as a means of bridging the social media gap between the clubs within our division and the clubs around the district. The intentions of The Magic Bulletin are to allow members from around the division to showcase their clubs and provide news and updates that would allow other clubs to virtually keep up with each other's clubs on a daily basis. In addition, it is also aimed at providing inspiration and knowledge to both officers and general members for various things such as service projects, event planning, and professionalism. Here you will also find a compilation of several articles on different events that recap what happened and discover what the experience was for our members. It is our honor to present to you the individuals that will be serving on The Magic Bulletin Committee.

"Something that I grew to love about Circle K was its ability as an organization to provide its members endless amounts of opportunities for growth and service. I have been in the Kiwanis Family for approximately 8 years now and I have found that grew the most while being a part of Circle K. It has given me experiences and opportunities to learn more about myself and discover new interests. It has also provided me with so many opportunities to serve my community and help those around me through the various projects we do and I have grown to love how focused on service Circle K is. I am thankful for everything Circle K has done for me."

"I love CKI because I get to bond and grow close to people who share the same passion for service that I do. We can all do community service on our own and volunteer on our own, but the thing I love most about Circle K is that you don't have to be alone when you do it. The people I have met within this division and within my home club are so inspirational and so diverse, which is also why I love Circle K. There is always something to learn, whether it be about Circle K or from older members' experiences within Circle K. It's a constant journey, but you will never feel alone when you're travelling through it."

"The Kiwanis Family has been a part of my life for quite some time due to my involvement in Key Club. So it was a given I would continue to share my love for service through Circle K in college. I remember the exact time I knew I loved this organization- Fall Training Conference 2013. This event truly opened my eyes and helped ignite a spark of love for CKI with all the educational workshops, fun games, & special member installation ceremony. Later I realized I loved this organization because of the many opportunities it provides me and others. I'm able to make a difference by volunteering and raising funds for charity, grow as a leader through the many leadership roles and workshops provided, and also able to create strong bonds through the many social events hosted. Overall, I love it so much I owe it to CKI for helping me grow and become a better person."

"Circle K is special to me because it has allowed me to continue to grow as an individual through the three tenants of service, leadership, and fellowship. I have been in the Kiwanis Family for about six years now and each year has provided me with many different experiences. Being in Circle K, I was provided with even more opportunities and friendships. It has allowed me to find another family to lean on and a new ways to make a difference. Circle K has also allowed me to find new passions and new things to be inspired about and help me grow. I’m happy to be apart of something like Circle K International."

"I like Circle K because there was always that feeling of "home" for me. It's said that home isn't always defined by a place but more of a feeling. This is what Circle K has always felt like for me. Every event, every meeting, every social, even events at other schools. There's always that feeling of togetherness and unity. I love how a simple service organization can just easily bring people together one event at a time. Circle K has a lot of meaning to me and I hope it bring you (the reader) a lot of meaning too!

"I love everything about Circle K. I love the service we do and how it changes the community. I love the leadership opportunity it promotes and drives others to strive for more than the minimal. But what I love the most is the family it makes out of complete strangers in a room of nothing but a presentation and someone speaking. I love Circle K because it helped me meet so many different people from so many different backgrounds. It helped me make friends that ultimately became my second family. I was a lonely kid entering college, knowing only one or two people. Joining Circle K, I found another home, with members that called each other family. Why do I love Circle K? Because Circle K is ohana and the rest is history."

"Three years ago, I was kind of a lonely guy; my life consisted of going to school and working without much of a social life. Then I went to my first Circle K meeting in Fall of 2013 and everything changed that day as I met a lot of cool people throughout Magic Kingdom. I then went to as many meetings, club rushes, DCMs, service projects, socials, and district events as I possibly could. I love that Circle K and the rest of the Kiwanis Family is dedicated to changing the world with every community we serve, we have the opportunity to become stronger leaders with workshops and constant planning to meet our clubs goals, I love the fellowship that makes our clubs feel like a family and the opportunities to meet other members in colleges and universities throughout California, Nevada, Hawaii, and around the world. In Circle K, you always have someone behind you to push you forward in your best and worst days. I wouldn’t be where I am today without that support and comradery over the last three years."

"Circle K creates magical moments for everyone to forge their own CKI story. I love CKI because it gave me moments that I thought I would never experience in a lifetime. I have gained experiences and memories that foster my growth as a leader, amplify my passion to serve others, and create a family that I thought I would never have in my life. I have met some amazing people in CKI and made meaningful connections that I foresee will last forever. I never thought that I would have a family or even friends that wants to be a part of my life and willing to support me physically, emotionally, and spiritually. I now know I am never alone anymore. Whether it is your home club or your division, you will find a place in Circle K that you can call home and meet those you can call ohana."

"I can go on and on about why I love Circle K, but what I love most is it's so much more than just a community service organization. It has given me the opportunity to give back to my community, which I have always loved doing and has given me a chance to meet such wonderful individuals. You're just continually inspired by those around you and it's just an amazing feeling to continue to do what you love doing with others who share the same passion for service as you. Simply put, Circle K is my home away from home."

"Circle K really lives up to its 3 tenants that has been around since 1947. I admire that and at the same time, I love it. CKI has only grown a lot more since 69+ years ago. When I first began my term, I described CKI and the people around me as fruits. Watermelons, apples, oranges, bananas, pomegranates, grapes, and so on. The fruits, representing the people, were in a bowl, always keeping to themselves. I never really got the chance to deepen the friendship and bonds I started. But, somewhere along the way, the fruits started hanging out with each a lot. I got to know a lot of people, not as acquaintances but really good friends. As I learn about the other person, the other person learned about me as well. Even though in the beginning, I started out as a lone fruit in the fruit bowl, now I feel that I have become a fruit salad. So many new friends, all with different personalities and backgrounds. I am glad that I decided to join CKI. It has easily become part of my daily life and what I love. Thanks Circle K!"

"I love CKI because of the babes. Kidding but not kidding . I love CKI because of the exploration I get to do. The exploration of not only being able to travel to other places but experience new adventures with new and old friends alike. CKI gives off that vibe and attitude. No matter how tired you are or how sore your buns are you're going to smile real hard and hurt your stomach laughing . You just can't help but explore new adventures with CKI . It's pretty magical!"
