Back to School Updates with Santa Ana College CKI

Santa Ana College is back for the Spring semester of 2016. For the first two weeks, our Circle K club has been helping our school bookstore with our event called “Backpacks”. It’s exactly what it sounds like. At the beginning of the semester, for two weeks, our school’s bookstore does not allow backpacks inside. So in order to prevent theft (because textbooks can be expensive) and overcrowding, we set up tables outside and babysat backpacks while their owner went inside. When they came back out (usually broke), they gave us their number cards, we found the numbers and their backpacks, then they went on their way. Being occupied with Backpacks from 7am to 8pm for the first two weeks, luckily we don’t have Club Rush until the third week.

This past Wednesday, the 24th, we had our Club Rush where we were able to gather more than 30 e-mails and names. On the same day, we also had our first successful Kiwanis Takeover where we presented in front of our Santa Ana Kiwanis and informed them on what we have been doing for the past year.

We have changed our meeting times to Thursdays at 1pm. So following the day of Club Rush, on the 25th, we had our first general meeting where new potential members came out and got to learn what we do as a club. We also celebrated Chris Tran and Felipe Garcia’s early birthdays at the meeting along with cake and laughs.

So that’s what our club has been doing this past month since school has started. With Nominations and Elections coming up these next two weeks, I’m full of excitement!
