My Circle K Experience

Hello Magic Kingdom! My name is Alan Nguyen. I am a 3rd year Education Sciences major with a minor in Civics and Community Engagement. I am a dedicated returning member of UCICKI who definitely has their memorable Circle K experiences.

I joined Circle K my 2nd year as someone who loves to do community service. Flash-forward to now, I fell in love with this wonderful organization. I have never seen an organization with members who connect with each other well and treat others like they are family. Whether it is your home club that made you find a home on your campus, or your division that you have reached out to make new bonds, everyone seems like one big happy family that I have never had. I am thankful for this club, as it have given me something that I will never get in a lifetime.

“It’s a beautiful day to give back.” I always tell myself this every time I give back and do service. Service has been a big part of my life for 8 years now, as an active volunteer, that has changed and even saved my life. My Circle K experiences that I treasure are days where I do service with UCI and with Magic Kingdom. Serving my community with Circle K is a whole new perspective. Service to me is being able to share and give joy and love to not only the lives you have made a positive impact on, but to yourself. I was able to have service moments, whether it is walking the dogs at Hemopet, organizing clothes at Working Wardrobes, tutoring kids at Save Our Youth, serving food for the homeless at Tabitha’s Blessings, or packing boxes with food at OC Food Bank. Seeing the action that I do in Circle K for service has this fulfillment for me where I just feel that I have done and give something that will forever change, even save lives of so many people. I believe that service is a way that brings us together. Seeing each other work together and just having fun doing so makes me feel excited to see everyone having their own service moments and creating their fulfillments inside. Those events are my Circle K experiences that I will forever treasure.

I am forever thankful for UCI Circle K and Magic Kingdom for providing me all the opportunities to foster my growth and for giving me new friends that I hope lasts a lifetime. As a dedicated member myself, I really hope that you all have your own personal Circle K experience that has impacted your life.
